In a Bricks & Minifigs store, the Minifig Maker is a station that allows customers to come piece together their own Lego people, or minifigs (mini-figures). It is a highly interactive and engaging part of the store, and a key area of added value over most other retailers.

However, Bricks & Minifigs does not have a standardized solution to offer to it’s franchisees. Instead, each owner is left to devise their own way of dividing a 30”x60” dump table into the appropriate sections.

The common solutions being to screw four pieces of melamine laminated particle board into the dump table, creating five troughs to fill with the five components of the minifig. While effective, this solution left much to desired.

For my divider solution I wanted to address these key areas:

  • Improve the overall functionality and experience

    • Reduce volume of each space and push pieces out to the perimeter

    • Allow more customers to engage with the station comfortably and from every direction

    • Offer a space for customers to place and/or showcase their creations

  • Stay in line with over-all store aesthetic direction and premium retail feel

  • Simple tool-free and nondestructive installation

  • Easily manufactured and shippable

Standard dump table required for Minifig Maker before modification.
